Tea leaves reveal historic Han-Tibetan ties
There's a Tibetan saying: "I'd go three days without food rather than a day without tea." Since the Tang Dynasty, tea from the mainland has been continuously transported to Tibet through the ancient Tea Horse Road, which has become a close link between the Han and Tibetan people. Yigong is an important junction on the ancient Tea Horse Road, and even in more recent history the significance of tea has continued to leave its mark in this town. For example, there was a tea plantation built right here in Yigong in 1960. What happened to the plantation? Follow me to learn more about how this place has been transformed over the years.
